Man booked for rape on pretext of marriage

JAMMU, June 8: Police have registered a case against a man in the Janipur area of Jammu district for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage.
According to police, the complainant alleged that the accused, identified as Sahil, a resident of Dansal, had been in a live-in relationship with her and maintained physical relations on the promise of marriage.
The woman told police that she had undergone gender transition around two years ago and had known the accused even before the transition.
Police said the complainant approached them after the accused allegedly refused to marry her.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at Police Station Janipur under relevant sections of law and further investigation was set into the motion, they said.
