Man arrested for selling charas among children

SRINAGAR, Aug 26: Police arrested a man for spoiling the future of the school going children by making them drug addicts in Rafiabad area.
As per police sources, for the past few days, it came into the notice that some persons are making school going children drug addicts.
Working further over the inputs, a police team led by SDPO Rafiabad Shabir Khan laid a naka at Hadipora and asked a person to stop on suspicious grounds.
On seeing police team, the person tried to escape, but was chased and nabbed near some distance from the naka point.
During search, police team recovered 500 grams of charas, which the accused had packed in small pouches.
The person was arrested on the spot, who has been identified as Ashiq Hussain Dar, son of Mohammad Maqbool Dar, a resident of Reban.
The modus operandi of the accused was that he pack the charas in small packets and sale them among the school going children to make them drug addicts.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Dangi Wacha police station against the accused at concerned police station and investigation started to ascertain the identity of the other persons involved in this illegal trade.
