SRINAGAR, Aug 26:  The State General Secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kulgam, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami, today castigated the Central Government over its alleged anti-working class policies, saying the slogan of ‘sab ka saath, sab ka vikaas’ is “hollow”.
Addressing a Press Conference here, Tarigami said the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has called for a country-wide strike on September 2  and the shutdown would not be partial but a “full-fledged lockdown”. “The factories, railways, banks, Government offices and all federations shall be closed,” he said. “All the trade unions have decided to protest against the policies of Modi Government,” he said.
Taking a dig on PM Modi, the communist leader said the Government has let down the working class of the country.
The CPI (M) leader said the people of the country had “great expectations” from the Modi Government but it has “not done anything for the common masses”. “He said the Government is working for the cooperate class of the country and is trying to appease them.
“This Government is ‘by the corporate, for the corporate’,” Tarigami said. Elaborating, the communist leader claimed that the corporate of the country pooled huge amount of money in run up to the formation of BJP Government during polls. “Now, the Government is returning their favour and liability,” he said.
Expressing concern over the “pathetic condition” of the working class that include both organized and un-organized, he said the government has “even snatched right to protest”.
The CPI (M) lawmaker also expressed over government “apathy” towards the workers working in centrally sponsored schemes which include National Health Rural Mission (NHRM), Sarva Shikhsha Abhiyan (SSA), Mid Day Meal (MDM) and ASHAs. Tarigami also took dig at the State Government for using force against the contractual employees. “You talk of ‘Goli nai bolli’ but why are you using force against your own children,” he questioned the PDP-led government.
He also expressed concern over the handicraft artisans of the state particularly those in Old part of the Srinagar. “Their plight has gone unnoticed from years. The government must know that handicrafts are our identity,” he said.
He urged the working class to unite and fight jointly against the Government policies.
