JAMMU, Nov 17: Maintaining that Congress has always strived for empowerment of the youth and women to bring in holistic development in the society, Congress candidate from Jammu East Vikram Malhotra today said that none of the elected representatives from this Assembly segment has taken concrete steps to ameliorate the youth.
He added that Congress is vowed towards working for the betterment of the young lot by showing them the right path and providing them means of livelihood.
Malhotra further said that, if provided with an opportunity to serve the masses as elected representative in the Assembly, he will take up the issue and try to ensure that a concrete policy is framed that helps the youth find lucrative vocations.
He raised this issue during various meetings with the residents of Jammu East in the localities of Jullaka Mohalla, Paaci Dhakki, Rani Park and Rajinder Bazar, here today.
During these meetings, Malhotra also laid stress over the need to empower the women and said that only Congress can give an atmosphere where the women get equal opportunities, feel safer and achieve heights in various fields.
He appealed to the general public to strengthen Congress in order to ensure that the developmental activities do not take back seat and are carried out in right direction.
Vikram also said that time has come to teach lessons to those who have been trying to divide society for their political gains though politics of polarization.
“It has been the Congress that has strengthened the bonds of brotherhood and secularism,” he said and appealed the people to caste their valuable votes judiciously.
