Malhotra demands repair of embankment of river Tawi

JAMMU, June 28:  Pradesh Congress  Committee general secretary Vikram Malhotra has demanded that embankment  on river Tawi which was washed away  during September 2014 floods, be repaired immediately.
The Congress leader who  visited several areas of Qasim Nagar in Ward No 19 of Jammu East constituency today listened to the grievances of the people and assured to take up the same with the concerned Government agencies.
During his visit to Qasim Nagar, Mr Malhotra had first hand appraisal of the difficulties being faced by the people of the area due to utter neglect of the concerned authorities as he found choked drains and filth and garbage dumps scattered everywhere.
Speaking on the occasion, the Congress leader strongly criticized the Jammu Municipal authorities for their pathetic approach towards sanitation problem of Qasim Nagar despite several repeated reminders by the people.
He expressed dismay over utter neglect of people’s miseries by the JMC authorities and criticized them for not taking steps to remove filth and garbage accumulated  in most parts of this locality.
The Congress leader also expressed concern over health hazards being posed by dirt and filth to the people of the area. He took a dig at the JMC authorities for creating undue hype on the name of “Swach Bharat Abhiyan”, as he alleged that this campaign has completely failed to achieve the motive behind its launch.
He  demanded repair of the portion of embankment of river Tawi as early as possible and also sought immediate assessment of the situation by the concerned department.
Prominent among those who accompanied Mr Malhotra included Vicky Choudhary,  Sunil Kumar,  Des Raj,  Kewal Krishan,  Kamlesh,  Santosh, Krishna Rani,   Sandeep Gandotra and others.
