JAMMU, June 28: Janata Dal (United) today launched the party’s membership drive here in Jammu, aiming to enlist secular and youth member of the region into party-fold.
Afaq Ahmed, All India general secretary, Janata Dal-United, here told reporters that people of State were feeling cheated by ruling PDP-BJP coalition Government as their miseries increased manifold after this Government came into existence.
“People are searching for an alternative of ruling PDP-BJP as both the parties compromised their core ideology and formed Government only for chair while the basic problems of people in Jammu as well as Kashmir remained unattended,” he said.
He said the central leadership also invoke hollow promises and have nothing to offer the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Ahmed said people need a better alternative of all the political parties and under the leadership of Sharad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Janata Dal-United JD-(U) is best for State.
Praising Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for banning alcohol in the State, GM Shaheen, State president, JD (U), said liquor is the main cause behind many crimes and road accidents and following the example of Bihar and Gujarat, J&K Government should also ban liquor in the State.
The JD-U leader further said that in J&K party enrolls people with its two main agendas i.e. overall development of the State which is ignored by all successive political parties and complete ban on alcohol in the State like in Gujarat and Bihar.
