JAMMU, Mar 4: State president, Gujjar Bakerwal Desh Tehreek-e-Insaaf (GBDTeI), Choudhary Nazakat Khatana has appealed Governor SP Malik to ensure that funds under Tribal quota are properly used by the officials of the Tribal Affairs department.
Addressing a press conference here today, Khatana said that funds under Tribal Affairs department are not being used properly. “Rights of ST people are being snatched, Mobile schools are not functioning, nomadic people are not getting admission in Tribal hostels,” he said, adding that no efforts are being made to improve living conditions of the tribal community. He further alleged that there is lack of dispensary, ration and animal medicine at nomadic hilly Bakhs and the rate of sheep-wool has not been fixed.
Khatana requested the Governor to look into the matter and make all possible efforts to provide all facilities to the nomadic community. He suggested that the Tribal Fund for nomadic welfare should be sanctioned to construct houses under Tribal scheme for homeless Gujjar Bakerwals who are living in make-shift houses.
Also present on the occasion were Abdul Rashid, Farooq Ahmed, Ali Hussain, Rayaz Chowdhary and others.
