Make adequate arrangements for this year’s Kheer Bhawani yatra: Wattal

SRINAGAR, Apr 25: Convener Mata Kheer Bhawani Ji Yatra Welfare Society, (MKBJYS), Kiran Wattal today urged the UT Government to elaborate arrangements be made for this year’s Mata Kheer Bhawani yatra falling on May 28.
Talking to reporters here, today along with Sunil Kumar, global coordinator, Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj and Ravi Bakshi national secretary, MKBJYS, Kiran Wattal said that this year’s yatra will commence on May 26 and conclude on May 30.
He said the Government needs to make all arrangements for smooth conduct of yatra to holy Kheer Bhawani shrines of Tulmulla in Ganderbal district, Manjgam and Tripursundri in Kulgam district, Kheer Bhawani, Logripora in Phalgam tehsil of Anantnag district, Raithan in Budgam district and Tikker in Kupwara district.

He said MKBJYS will organise yatras to all these shires in collaboration with Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj, Global Solace and Tourism Federation of Jammu. He said it has been an annual feature of his organisation to take holy yatra to these shrines.
Wattal said a delegation led him also called on Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri today and discussed the issue with him in detail. The delegation also submitted a memorandum to him in this regard and he assured all cooperation and coordination for yatra with all concerned DCs.
Wattal said the memorandum submitted by the delegation to Divisional Commissioner demanded adequate arrangements in respect of accommodation for yatris within the temple area since the accommodation built by the Tourism Department has already been allotted to package employees. At present, no rooms are available for yatris so authorities concerned may be urged to get pre fabricated rooms constructed for the Mela purposes. Moreover for adequate and sufficient sanitation and disposal of solid waste/liquid waste, the STP be made fully functional.
The delegation further demanded proper and adequate space for parking at Tulmulla and other religious places, clearance of water channel within the compound of the shrine before the commencement of the yatra, provision of rooms and dormitory facility inside the shrine premises for volunteers of Yatra Committee by Tourism Department and officials concerned, Tourism Department should provide sufficient media coverage , hoardings and advertisements through radio for the yatra with adequate basic facilities enroute Kheer Bhawani.
The delegation further demanded that yatris should be provided with two days Kashmir darshan by having pilgrimage to various city temples of Srinagar and nearby including historical places so that these places could be seen by younger generation for Kashmiri Samaj. Moreover 10 to 15 buses should be made available for the yatris in Kashmir to have the pilgrimage to other shrines of Mata Kheer Bhawani in Valley on the day of Jesht Ashtami.
