Major tragedy averted by GRP

JAMMU, May 25: A major tragedy was averted by the timely action of GRP Jammu whose men swung into action to control the fire from spreading which broke out near Railway track at km 65.3 in the jurisdiction of GRP Samba.
On getting information, the SP Railways Jammu, Suram Singh deputed Devinder Singh, SDPO Railway Jammu, Pawan Kumar SDPO Railway Vijaypur to the spot. Besides, a team from GRP Samba was also dispatched to the spot. The fire tender was also informed. The men of GRP swung into action to control the blaze by using the traditional methods including sprinkling water, throwing mud etc over the blaze. This way a major tragedy was averted.
Had the blaze not been controlled it could have led to major tragedy including disruption in train traffic besides causing damage to the fuel loaded train bogies. Later SP Railways gave away rewards to the jawans who swung into action to control the fire.
