MAJALTA, Feb 2: Agitated over alleged anti-people and callous attitude of the Tehsil administration, locals of Majalta held a strong protest demonstration in front of the Tehsil office.
They raised slogans against the Tehsildar and demanded stern action against the erring officers of the Tehsil Office, who allegedly used to remain absent from duty.
In fact, the locals had assembled there for registering protest against alleged slipshod formulation of relief cases of rain-damages and highlight other grievances but the absence of Tehsildar and other officials in the office irked them and they held a demonstration there.
“The Tehsildar had called us for scrutinizing the cases but he himself is absent with neither of Tehsil staff able to explain where he is and when he shall be available next time,” said an angry villagers.
The protesters also staged a dharna on the road and disrupted vehicular movement. They were demanding a detailed inquiry into the affair of Tehsil office with strict action against the guilty officers, who have allegedly let loose a reign of corruption, maladministration and high-handedness in the area.
Later, the protesters dispersed off after Police intervention and assurance that the genuine grievances of locals would be projected before the higher authorities.
