Maintain mental perseverance, Army chief to disabled soldiers

NEW DELHI: Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat urged soldiers with disability to maintain mental perseverance despite the odds to excel in life.

While speaking at a seminar on mental and physical issues of disabled soldiers, Rawat exhorted them to take psychiatric treatment to overcome the mental trauma faced after disability.

“If you can maintain your mental perseverance then you can do anything,” Rawat said, assuring the disabled soldiers that the Army will always be there for them.

Lt Gen Bipin Puri, the Director General of the Armed Forces Medical Service, said the Artificial Limb Centre in Pune currently caters to the needs of the disabled soldiers, and five more such centres will be established in other parts of the country starting this year.

With the establishment of these five new centres, disabled soldiers from other parts of the country would not have to travel to Pune, Puri added.  (AGENCIES)
