JAMMU, July 9: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary, incharge J&K Ram Madhav today said that BJP stands for grant of 33 percent reservation to women in politics.
Addressing a Working Committee meeting of party Mahila Morcha here, Madhav said that BJP has already granted 33 percent reservation to women in organizational set up and it stands for grant of the same to them in political set up of the country so that they can be part of the decision making bodies like Parliament and Assemblies.
He also spoke on the widespread appreciation of various schemes launched by Narendra Modi Government for the socio-economic upliftment of women across the country. He said that the BJP and Modi Government is deeply concerned for the safety, security and equal opportunities for women and the same is reflected in various schemes being launched in last five years.
BJP State president Ravinder Raina along with Morcha State president, Rajni Sethi, State general secretary (Org.), Ashok Kaul, former Dy. CM Kavinder Gupta and BJP senior leader Usha Choudhary.
Morcha State office bearers and district presidents from all three regions of State attended the meeting in which various issues concerning women were discussed.
On the occasion a resolution was adopted which among other things demanded grant of 33 percent reservation to women in coming Assembly elections, abrogation of Article 35 A, construction of shelter homes for working women and destitute etc.
State general secretary Updesh Andotra tabled a resolution, which was seconded by State vice-president Monika Khosla and finally it was summed up by Rajni Sethi.
BJP State president Ravinder Raina in his address focused on the role of women in the front line politics. He said BJP came into being on April 6, 1980, with a vision to empower everyone and added that the role of Morchas is essential for the upliftment of all those who were ignored for so many decades.
Ashok Kaul stressed on the organizational matters and need of strengthening the party fabric at the booth level. He also acquainted the Morcha activists with the forthcoming party programmes and prompted them to take these to the common masses. He laid emphasis on the membership drive of the party which has to be undertaken at the national, State, district as well as block level.
Rajni Sethi, in her presidential address, gave account of organizational and developmental works undertaken by the Mahila Morcha at various levels in the previous months. She also stressed on the social security of the females along with their empowerment and upliftment, which will boost their efficiency in displaying their ability and capability. She spoke on the success of BJP’s policies among the masses.
Former Deputy CM, Kavinder Gupta, while addressing the Morcha activists, asserted that the nation has witnessed the accelerated pace of development and advancement under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. He also stressed on the need of time management and proper liaison for smooth and efficient working of Mahila Morcha.
State general secretary Sanjita Dogra conducted the proceedings of the meeting.
District presidents presented reports on organizational and political activities of their districts.
