JAMMU, May 18: Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha today paid rich tribute to Late Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, former Union Minister and son of the soil, on his 2nd death anniversary.
On the occasion, a resolution was passed in the house demanding that Late Prof Chaman Lal Gupta be conferred with Padam Vibushan Award. Prof Gupta was also the Chief Patron of the Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha.
While paying tributes, the participants, recalled the services of Prof Gupta and described him as a man of strong will and of undeterred courage who never compromised on his political ideology till he breathed his last.

“He remained a dedicated solider of RSS with which he was associated from his student life and after relinquishing Government service in late fifties,” they said and reminded that Prof Chaman Lal was the brain behind establishing Village Defence Committees in erstwhile Doda District and other reaches of Jammu Region after the militants indulged in massacres and forced the minorities to flee from their homes.
The prominent personalities who paid tributes to Prof Chaman Lal Gupta included Chander Parkash Ganga (Sr BJP leader and Ex-Minister); Chander Mohan Sharma (Sr BJP leader); Romesh Pappa (All India Sampark Parmukh RSS); Satish Sharma, Dr C L Gupta, Yash Paul Gupta, C P Gupta, Ravi Rohmetra ( Columnist), Amar Chand Gupta and Mukesh Mahajan.
Speaking on the occasion, President of the Sabha Romesh Chander Gupta appealed to the Central Government and State Government of J&K Union Territory to honour the dedicated services of Late Prof Chaman Lal Gupta and keep his memory alive by erecting his statue at conspicuous places in Jammu City and give posthumous Award to him as he was a strong willed and principled man who left behind a thought provoking legacy.
Other members of the Sabha, who paid rich tribute to Prof Chaman Lal Gupta included Arun Gupta (President CCI), Shiv Partap Gupta , Harinder Gupta , Sanjay Mahajan, Dr Mohan Lal Gupta, Surinder Gupta, Yash Paul Gupta, Balbir Gupta, Vijay Gupta, Satish Gupta, Darshan Gupta, Ramesh Gupta (Bartan Wale), Prabh Dayal Gupta, Dr Bimal Gupta, Atul Gupta , Ram Gupta, Dr Arun Gupta , Shanti Parkash Gupta, Vinod Gupta(Lovely), Kuldeep Gupta, Surinder Mohan Gupta, Parshotam Gupta and others.
