Mahajan Sabha demands modern, automatic guns for VDCs

JAMMU, Jan 7: In a meeting here today Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha (JCMS) condemned the barbaric terror attack on innocent and unarmed minority community members in village Dhangri of Rajouri.
Sabha office bearers expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and said that these killings are inhuman which need to be condemned by all in strongest words.
Romesh Chander Gupta, Sabha president said that targeting innocent people is a coward act of terrorists who have crossed all the limits when they attacked children and civilians.
He said that the militants involved in this act should be hunt down immediately.
JCMS president also said that those who are responsible for deteriorating security situation in J&K should be identified and booked.
“Multiple explosions, Fidayeen attacks on army and encounters are making huge losses of valuable human lives which can be averted if security lapses are examined seriously,” he maintained adding: “It also shows major negligence on part of the concerned agencies.”
Romesh Gupta also said that after such killings, minority community people are not feeling secure in far flung areas and the administration should take tough decisions.
He further said that Village Defence Committees (VDCs) should be strengthened in the militancy prone twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch by equipping them with modern and automatic guns at an earliest to restore sense of security among the people there.
Shiv Partap Gupta and Harinder Gupta-both senior vice president; Sanjay Mahajan, general secretary; Dr. Mohan Lal Gupta, cashier; Yash Pal Gupta, Surinder Gupta, Vipan Gupta, Balbir Gupta, Atul Gupta, Ramesh Gupta, Ashok Gupta, Dinesh Gupta, Mukesh Mahajan, Rakesh Gupta, Dr. Bimal Gupta, Ram Kumar Gupta and others were also present in the meeting.
