Lt Governor discusses modalities for implementation of “Mission Youth” prog

JAMMU, Dec 11: Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu today chaired an officers meeting to discuss the modalities for implementation of ambitious “Mission Youth” programme in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary; Arun Kumar Mehta, Financial Commissioner; Sheetal Nanda, Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj; Sarmad Hafeez, Administrative Secretary, Youth Services and Sports Department; Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Chief Executive Officer, Mission Youth besides other senior officers of concerned departments were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Lt. Governor directed the concerned officers to promote youth centric programmes including sports activities to empower the youth through awareness, education and positive engagement.
He also asked to develop Youth Centres at district levels and constitution of Advisory Board for “Mission Youth”at district and block levels.
He stressed on the screening of educational, motivational movies and documentaries to the youth at various parts of Jammu and Kashmir besides regular Community engagements for better results.
Meanwhile, Prof. Javed Musarrat, Vice Chancellor Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), called on Lieutenant Governor and briefed him about the status of the ongoing teaching, research programmes and extra- curricular activities in the University.
He also briefed the Lieutenant Governor about its functioning and about various administrative and academic issues of urgent importance.
The Lt. Governor emphasized the importance of continuing hard work by the faculty and students for achieving the highest standards in teaching, research and extra-curricular activities.
A delegation led by Chander Prakash Ganga, former Minister met Lieutenant Governor and apprised him about the development issues of Vijaypur Constituency.
The delegation including Chairman and Vice-Chairman Bari Brahamna Municipal Committee demanded for construction of Government College at Bari Brahamna town besides development of sports infrastructure in their area.
The Lt. Governor assured the delegation to review all issues raised by Sh. Ganga and urged him to continue working vigorously for the advancement of the people’s welfare.
