Srinagar, Mar 25: Northern Army Commander Lt Gen D Anbu today stressed upon the troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir to keep tight vigil and thwart the militant attempts to infiltrate into Kashmir.
Lt Gen Anbu was in Kashmir for two day visit to review the situation along the LoC and hinterland. He arrived here yesterday and during his visit met the troops at the ground in Kashmir and along the LoC.
Commending the alertness and high morale of troops deployed in Kashmir, he stressed upon the need to sustain vigil and thwart any attempts of infiltration from across.
Accompanied by Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen J S Sandhu, the Army Commander visited the LoC formations and units to review situation after winter when the snow acts as major obstable for infiltration of militants.
The sector commanders briefed the Northern Chief about the operational and logistics preparedness of the troops deployed along the LoC. The Commanders briefed Lt Gen Anbu about the regular patrols conducted by the troops along the LoC despite snow.
The Army Commander was told that the troops deployed at the LoC are keeping a tight vigil at the activities along the LoC on Pakistan Occupied Kashmir side from their forward posts.
He was told that the Army Engineers are ready for the maintaince of the fence along the LoC that gets damaged due to snowfall. He was told that the snow has started melting and at those places where snow depth was less army Engineers are assessing the damage of the fence.
The Army Commander later also took stock of the security situation in Kashmir valley. He stressed for the coordination among various security agencies so that the operations against militants are conducted effectively.
Lt Gen Anbu was also briefed about the recent operations that were conducted in Kashmir valley. He was also informed about how the stone pelting mobs during the security operations are being tackled by police and aara-military Central Reserve Police Force effectively.
A defence spokesmans said: “The Army Commander impressed upon everyone to continue targeting the terrorist groups while safeguarding the interests of the common people in close coordination with all security agencies and civil administration.”
