JAMMU, Sept 20: Lt Colonel (retd) Harpal Singh has been appointed president of Ex Servicemen Wing of Sainik Samaj Party (SSP) JKUT here, today.
The SSP in a statement said that serving soldiers and veterans of JKUT have been suffering for last 75 years due to apathy and indifferent attitude of Kashmir centric politics duly supported by successive regime at centre. Numerous anomalies are existing between JKUT and the neighbouring states of Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. Main anomalies included reservation for Government jobs and superannuation. It is only six percent in JKUT, where as Himachal Pradesh and Punjab it is about 14 percent, it added.
It said another major anomaly is huge difference in one time grant and annual grant for decorated soldiers.
Col (retd) Pathania President, Sainik Samaj Party JKUT ,welcomed Lt Col Harpal Singh ,to the fold of Sainik Samaj Party JKUT and congratulated him for his new journey as president, Ex Servicemen Wing, JKUT. He expressed his faith in competence, dedication and dynamism of Lt Col Harpal Singh, in addressing various issues of veterans and family pensioners, and resolve them with various departments. Party is also looking for district presidents, to have a grass root and wider interaction, with a view to resolve various issues. Pathania ,also requested Lt Governor to consider various anomalies existing between JKUT and neighbouring states and resolve the issue at earliest as a huge number of youth joins armed forces from JKUT .
