LPGEF takes out protest rally against Govt’s anti-workers policy

JAMMU, Apr 29:  All J&K Low Paid Government Employees Federation (LPGEF)  today took out a protest rally from Parade Ground to Shaheedi Chowk, against the anti-people and anti-working class policies adopted by the State Government.
A large number of employees from Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Jammu, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Kathua and Samba districts of Jammu province attended the protest rally, which passed through the main bazaars of Jammu and culminated at Shaheedi Chowk.
The rally was led by president of the Federation, Abdul Majid Khan, who while addressing paid glowing tributes to May Day Martyrs , who made supreme sacrifices and succeeded in getting a weekly off and eight hours working in a day for the working class.
He cautioned the working class of anti-workers policies being pursued by the ruling class resulting in steep rise in prices of all essential commodities of life and rapidly growing unemployment. He said there is a dire need of continuing struggle in persistent and protracted manner against these policies and for protecting rights of the State employees.
General secretary of the Federation, RK Singh, RK Maini and Isher Dass Sangra, also spoke on the occasion and highlighted various grievances and demands of the divergent sections of employees and pensioners, and sought early redressal thereof.
Their demands included release of eight percent DA instalmet from January 2013 in cash, constitution of Pay Commission for revision of Pay, pension and perks afresh, merger of 50% DA in basic pay or pension, lowering qualifying service for pension to 20 years, payment of 6th CPC arrears in one go, enhancement of medical allowance to Rs 1000, etc.
The speakers also extended support to Patwaris, who are on strike and daily wager workers agitating for withdrawl of circular issued by the Government dispensing with services of all those engaged after 1994.
