KATHUA, Nov 5: All J&K Low Paid Govt Employees Federation, (LPGEF) has demanded release of 3% DA and hike in the Medical Allowance of the employees and pensioners from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month.
These issues were strongly raised in a rally of low paid government employees of district Kathua held at Hiranagar on Monday, under the leadership of Hans Raj Sharma. The speakers during the meeting, raised several burning issues of the low paid government employees of the J&K UT.
While addressing the large gathering, senior Trade Union leader- Hans Raj Sharma said that Government has failed to release 18 months’ pending DA arrears during Corona period. He demanded immediate release of the DA arrears of this period.
He further demanded release of 3 % Dearness Allowance with effect from July 2024, enhancement of Medical Allowance of the employees and pensioners from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month as per Central/UT norms and revival of Old Pension Scheme in the Jammu and Kashmir as promised by new Coalition Government.
Sharma also demanded implementation of CAT judgement regarding deduction of commutation for 10 years instead of 15 years, regularization of daily rated/ Anganwadi/ ASHA workers, village guards and cooks engaged in schools, to conduct DPC in each department twice a year, and enhancement of remuneration of village guards.
The Trade Union leader said that there is a pressing demand of the employees and pensioners to enhance pension benefits after 65 years, 70 yrs , 75 yrs and finally after 80 years of age of the pensioners in J&K.
He said the prices of the essential commodities, fuel besides electricity, water bills etc have gone higher, beyond the capacity of low paid workers. The Government has failed to keep check on the sky rocketing prices of every thing. Under such circumstances, the Government must release the pending arrears of DA and address other issues of the employees and pensioners, Sharma added.
Prominent among those, who spoke on the occasion included-Isher Dass Sangra, R K Mani, Achal Dev Singh, A S Awal, Anil Verma, Kabla Singh, Tara Mani, Balak Ram and Rashid Ahmed.
