JAMMU, Apr 24: LPG distributors of J&K organised a State convention, in which distributors from three companies including HPCL, IOCL and BPCL took part.
In the convention, various issues were discussed including appointment of new distributors in the State and directions of the Government regarding hundred percent home-delivery.
The speakers apprised the gathering, that a delegation of the Federation met Minister for Consumer Affaris and Public Distribution (CAPD).
The delegation comprised of Manoj B Nangia, Secretary, North West Region, Gurpal Singh Mann, President for Punjab State, Satinder Singh, Executive President, Haryana State, Khursheed Iqbal Shah, President, All Kashmir LPG Distributors Association, Fida Hussain Sheikh, President, All India LPG Distributor Federation, J&K and Sufi Hamid, secretary, they added.
They said that the delegation presented a memorandum to consider payment of additional cartage in view of the heavy delivery cost involved whereas applicable. The Minister was apprised of the provision of fixing such additional charges in the Government of India’s Gas Control order 2000 whereas there was a difficult geographical terrain and longer distances were involved.
Minister was informed that an additional delivery charges of Rs 10 to Rs 30 were fixed in Himachal Pradesh for the purpose, they informed.
The delegation urged the Minister that such as additional charge would actually lead to customer empowerment and satisfaction mitigating the problems being faced by them on account of having to procure LPG refills saving both time and unnecessarily higher costs.
