JAMMU, Nov 14: Former Legislative Assembly Speaker and National Conference MLA, Mohammad Akbar Lone today strongly reacted to yesterday’s statement of senior PDP leader and Lok Sabha member Muzaffar Hussain Baig regarding conspiracy behind the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.
In a statement, Lone, a veteran leader of National Conference, said as Baig’s party was in power, he should unearth the conspiracy and clear the things before the public.
“Let the public know about the conspiracy. What was it (the conspiracy)? Who hatched it and why?. The people have a right to know and those at the helm of affairs must make it public,’’ he said and added that since the Baig’s party was ruling the State, he can easily reveal the conspiracy and narrate it to the public.
“Your (Mr Baig) has said that an enquiry should be conducted into the conspiracy by a sitting Supreme Court Judge. I welcome your statement. Let your party go ahead with the enquiry. We will welcome it,’’ the former Assembly Speaker, who had also served as Higher Education Minister in Omar Abdullah regime, said.
Coming down heavily on Baig and PDP, the National Conference veteran said if he and his party didn’t reveal the conspiracy, it would be presumed that they have nothing to say and were only trying to fool the people.
Lone advised Muzaffar Baig to use his influence in the ruling party, appoint the Commission on Burhan Wani’s killing and clear the things.
