UDHAMPUR, June 10: Demanding a foot bridge on the National Highway at Jakhani Chowk, locals held a strong protest demonstration, here today.
The protesting people raised slogans against the National Highway Authority of India and threatened to block the highway if their demand remains ignored.
The protest demonstration was held under the leadership of Swran Singh along with Govind Ram, Parduman Singh, Captain Ravi Singh, Sanjeet Singh and Ashok Sharma. They alleged that the National Highways Authority and local administration of Udhampur have turned Nelson’s eye towards the problems being faced by people because of no foot bridges or under pass connectivity.
“There is no village connectivity with the road, due to which the local people are facing many problems like traffic jam, accidents, etc,” they said and appealed the highways authority to resolve the problem by constructing a foot bridge.
Others who addressed the protest demonstration, included Amit Kumar Sharma, Ajay Kumar, Pawan Bandral, Gourav Sharma, Tarun, Ashok Singh and Shaker Ali.
