UDHAMPUR, June 12: Up in arms against setting up a COVID-19 centre at ITI College in Ward Number 14, local protested and blocked the road in front of ITI College Udhampur.
Raising slogans against the District Administration Udhampur, the protesters alleged that the opening of a COVID-19 center in the residential area could increase the risk of the spread of Coronavirus infection. This areas is highly populated with around 1500 houses nearby in Ward Number 13-14, they said.
Pointing out that there are strict instructions from the Central Government against setting up COVID-19 centre in closely populated place, the protesters said that the District Administration Udhampur order for COVID-19 center in ITI College was violation of the guidelines in this regard.
They demanded immediate withdrawal of the District Administration’s order on COVID centre and warned more intensified protest dharna tomorrow if no action is taken.
Those who addressed the protest demonstration, included Anil Pachiala, Councilor of Ward number 14, Neha Verma, Shashi Ovraya, Shashi Vasndi, Sahil Sharma and Gopal Pachayal.
