UDHAMPUR, July 10: The teams of Legal Metrology Department imposed a fine of Rs 29800 on 23 traders of Kathua and Udhampur districts for violation of provisions of J&K Weight and Measurement Enforcement Act.
In Udhampur, the LMD team booked 7 traders during the inspections in the town and on National Highway and imposed Rs. 6600 fine for various violations of J&K Weight and Measurement Enforcement Act.
The team warned the traders against using unfair trade practices in future.
Intensive checking was also conducted in the Kathua and Billawar Tehsils and 16 traders were challaned for violations of various provisions of Weights and Measures Act and Packages Commodities Rules. The department realized an amount of Rs 23200 as composition sum.
