Liquor smuggling bid foiled

KATRA, Jan 23: Continuing its drive against  smuggling of liquor to the holy town, the Katra Police today seized 72 pouches of illicit liquor and arrested the accused.
A Police team,  headed by SHO Katra, Inspector Kuldeep Krishan, laid a special Naka at Asia Chowk Katra and intercepted a vehicle JK02K-4696,  driven by one Madan Lal of Jadd in Akhnoor. 72 poly pouches of J&K Excise liquor (measuring 250/250 ml each)  were recovered from the vehicle.
Police arrested the accused and seized the pouches as well as the vehicle, which was being used for liquor smuggling.
A case in this regard was also registered at Police Station Katra.
Meanwhile, another bootlegger was held at Reasi and 20 poly pouches as well as five bottles of liquor were recovered from his possession. The accused was identified as Kalu Mohd of Devi Garh, Bhomag.
