LIC generates Rs 208 cr premium income in J&K

JAMMU, Mar 24: The Life Insurance Corporation of  India (LIC) recorded first premium income of Rs 208 crore in J&K ( Srinagar Division) till date during this financial year while the company  was opening its new Satellite branch at Katra Mata Vaishnodevi tomorrow.
Talking to media-persons at the inaugural occasion of  modernized Divisional Office cell at Rail Head Complex here today,  LIC’s Zonal Head (North),  A P Singh said that North Zone is the leading zone in the country covering six States  and one Union Territory- Chandigarh. He disclosed that North Zone remained at the top in business two years back while Western Zone was at number one position last year. The zone has achieved  premium business of nearly 91 % of this financial year while J&K has achieved the target of 90 % till today.  The Division has nearly 1.80 lakh policies to its credit till date during this year. The Srinagar Division is expected to achieve its target of  Rs 235 crore business by the end of this financial year, Mr Singh maintained.
Mr Singh also disclosed to the media persons regarding the upcoming new satellite offices at Ramban, Kishtwar, Kulgam and Ganderbal, all of which are district headquarters and are likely to be made operational by April this year. The company contemplates to open new LIC branches  at Kargil, Bandipore and Shopian, he maintained.
Divisional Head J&K, DC Thakur disclosed that Zonal Manager Mr Singh would inaugurate new branch at Katra Mata Vaishnodevi tomorrow.  He said at present the LIC have total 27 offices which included  10 satellite offices in the State.  There are 17 full fledged offices  of the company in the State and LIC was all set to achieve a target of Rs 235 crore business in the State by March 31.
Earlier, accompanied by DC Thakur ( DM) and C S Bhawani, Marketing Manager, AP Singh inaugurated new modernized building of Divisional Officer at Rail Head Complex here. Later, Mr Singh addressed officers and other staff members of the LIC and congratulated them for having upgraded office.
