Liability under MGNREGA to be cleared shortly: Haq

Ramban, June 9: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan today inaugurated a Panchayat Ghar at Pernote Ramban.
The Minisiter was accompanied by MLA Ramban Neelam Kumar Langeh, Director Rural Development Jammu and ACD Ramban. A large number of people besides Sarpanchs and Panchs of the adjoining areas were present on the occasion.
On the demand of the people, the Minister sanctioned a playground for High School Pernote on spot and directed ACD Ramban to start work immediately. The Minister assured the people that all possibilities of establishing a community hall in the village will be explored on priority and  it will be made available to the people in the due course of time.
Later, the Minister chaired a brief meeting of the sectoral officers at Ramban for reviewing status of Centrally Sponsored Flagship Scheme MGNREGA in the district. MLA Ramban Neelam Kumar Langeh, MLC Firdous Tak , DDC Ramban F A Shah Bukhari, Director Rural Development Jammu besides all sectoral officers were present in the meeting.
While reviewing the condition of lifeline road of Gool from Ramban, the Minister enquired about its maintenance and renovation from the concerned officers. The officers informed that the tendering process of the road is being done at the rate of  15 Kms per year and as such maintenance and other works are being carried on the road.
The Minister expressed displeasure over the improper maintenance and directed the DDC to hold a thorough review of these important areas which are considered to be the thrust areas of importance for people.
The Minister exhorted upon the officers of Horticulture, Fisheries, Sericulture, Animal Husbandary and other departments to work in convergence with the Rural Development for providing employment at a large scale in addition to creation of valuable assets in the district. He informed that the govt has recently got the last two year’s liability amounting to Rs 240 crore released from the Union Govt under MGNREGA and strenuous efforts are being made to get all liability under the scheme liquidated very shortly.
The Minister directed DDC Ramban to hold meetings with the departments and lay down plans wherever convergence with the MGNREGA is possible. He further asked the concerned officers of Rural Development to concentrate more upon the development of infrastructure besides employment generation.
Earlier the Minister in his interaction with the people at Gool sanctioned a toilet complex and directed the Director RDD for auctioning of worn out godown of RDD at Gool so that BDO Office building can be constructed at the same place.
