JAMMU, May 15: In an emergent meeting of All J&K Plus 2 Officers Association held here under the chairmanship of its President Dr PP Raina, all the members in one voice highlighted the important issue confronting the Plus 2 Cadre Physical Education Lecturers/ ZEPOs and demanded the solution at an earliest.
The Executive Committee Members and other office bearers attended the meeting through video conferencing.
The Association sought the intervention of Lieutenant Governor J&K Union Territory, GC Murmu and Chief Secretary, BVR Subramanyam for early redressal of the long pending genuine demand of Physical Education Lecturers (PELs) and Zonal Physical Education Officers.
Dr Raina said, Lecturers in Physical Education serving in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir continued to be victims of the apathetic attitude of the erstwhile successive State Governments and even the present Government.
“PELs were promoted as In-charge Lecturers in 2008 and posted in various Hr Secondary Schools across the State to teach the discipline of Physical Education to the 11th and 12th classes and their annual increments are released on the basis of their work and behaviour and overall good result of the classes they teach. So their nature of work is the same as that of the lecturers in other disciplines. But while lecturers in other disciplines were placed in the then scale of Rs 8000–13500, the lecturers in Physical Education were placed in the scale of Rs 6700- 10900,” Dr Raina maintained.
He further said that it was a sheer violation of the rule of equal pay for equal work and gross violation of SRO-225 according to which all Lecturers/Sr Lecturers serving in the scale of Rs 6700-10900 and Rs 7500–12000, have been placed in scale of Rs 8000–13500 (pre-revised), with the Sr. Lecturers getting two increments.
He said they have urged the Lieutenant Governor of the UT of J&K for his personal intervention to end the grave injustice with PELs by giving the full benefits as admissible under SRO-225 and ordering their regularization at the earliest.
The members who took part in Video Conferencing included  Senior Vice Presidents Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Sanjev Kumar Pandita (Education), Narinder Kumar Sharma, Surinder Kumar, General Secretaries-Sanjeev Kumar, Kapil Banotra, Prem Pal Verma, Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, Coordinators-Suresh Raina, Dr Balgar Singh, Mohan Lal, Kewal Krishan Sharma, Ved Parkash, Ram Lal and  Subash Sharma.
