LG Ladakh reviews winter preparedness of Health Deptt

LEH, Dec 3: Lt Governor of Ladakh R K Mathur today reviewed the status of medical equipment procurements and stocking up of medicines for both the districts of Kargil and Leh.
Through a video conference, the LG was apprised of machinery/equipments procured and installed and those which are awaited. Mathur stated that the budget received under Special Development Package, UT budget and from the LAHDC must be put to full usage by purchasing necessary equipments, whilst encouraging choices of only high-end quality equipments. LG stressed that all Primary Health Centers (PHCs) must be equipped to meet guidelines set by the Union Ministry of Health and Medical Education.
Mathur was also informed that almost all the equipments destroyed in a fire accident in Kargil District Hospital have been replaced, though few of the equipments are on the way. Stating that heating, power and water are most essential for a Health Center, the LG directed the department to ensure the same so as to provide a comfortable stay for the patients and the healthcare workers.
Medical Superintendent Leh, Dr Norzin Angmo informed LG Mathur that SNM Leh has received an Oxygen Compressor and an additional Oxygen Concentrator is anticipated in the coming days which will increase the oxygen availability from 500 liters per minute to 1000 liters per minute.
Discussing COVID situation, the LG was apprised that both the districts were equipped with sufficient oxygen cylinders and ventilators. Mathur passed directions to expedite procurement of mobile hospital vans for all blocks equipped with essential equipment. He was informed that five mobile clinic vans have already been procured in Kargil district.
Commissioner/Secretary Health Rigzin Sampheal, Director Health Dr Tsering Angchuk, CMO Leh Dr Mutup Dorje, CMO Kargil Dr Munavar Hussain, MS Leh Dr Norzin Angmo and Dr Shabir Hussain RMO Kargil attended the meeting.
