KARGIL, July 28: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), along with First Lady Neelam Mishra, today inaugurated 9 waste pickup trucks purchased by the Rural Development and Panchayati Department (RD&PD) at the Tourist Facilitation Centre in Kargil.
The Director, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, briefed the Lieutenant Governor about the procurement of 26 waste pick-up trucks under the Special Development Package (SDP).
Additionally, he highlighted the completion and functionality of 20 solid waste segregation sheds equipped with all necessary tools for proper waste segregation in 71 villages of Kargil district.
Recognizing the management of solid and liquid waste as a challenging task, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of effectively managing these wastes to realize the vision of a clean India as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He urged the people of Ladakh to take responsibility for managing solid and liquid waste diligently to ensure good hygiene and sanitation, thereby promoting the well-being of the region’s residents.
Present at the event were Chairman of LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan; Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse; Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Anayat Ali Choudhary; Director of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department (RD&PRD) Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi; Assistant Commissioner Development Kargil, Ghulam Muhammad; District Panchayat Officer, Kargil, Padma Angmo, and other relevant officers.
