2 CRPF men injured in militant attack

SRINAGAR May 2: Security forces today busted a militant module in Sopore area of Baramulla district who were responsible for the attacks on Panchayat members and non-local labourers.
An official said that based on a specific input regarding movement of three militants from general area Sopore to Srinagar, a joint naka was established by 29 RR of Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police to nab the militants.
The official said that they were observed moving suspiciously along the orchards in general area Haigam this evening and the lookout party alerted the joint naka party.
Security forces challenged them. However, they fled towards the orchards in the general area. They were chased by the security forces deployed along the escape routes and nabbed. They have been identified as Tafheem Reyaz son of Riyaz Ahmad Mir of Usmanabad Warpora in Sopore, Seerat Shahbaz Mir son of Mohammad Shahbaz Mir of Brath Kalan Sopore and Rameez Ahmed Khan son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan of Mirpora, Brathkalan Sopore.
Their search led to the recovery of three Chinese pistols and ammunition and incriminating materials.
The official said that the successful apprehension of the militants evaded major plots and busted the module responsible for various recent attacks and planned execution of PRI and non local labourers.
He said that further interrogation of the apprehended militants is likely to give further inputs which might result in successful counter militancy operations in near future.
The official said that these three militants came to the security forces radar during the investigation of recent killings of non-local labourers and grenade attack in multiple locations. He said that suspected individuals from various places were detained and sustained interrogation established the role of LeT militants behind these attacks.
The official said that the interrogation revealed that militant organisations are planning such heinous attacks in the general area and three LeT militants were tasked for the same.
In the meantime, two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were injured in a militant attack on a CRPF vehicle in Awantipora area of Pulwama district this evening.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, said that a joint team of Police and CRPF were conducting area domination in two BP bankers.
A minor IED blast took place in Larmoo area of Tral Awantipora. Two CRPF personnel were injured. “Our team also retaliated. Reinforcement along with senior officers have rushed to the spot”, he added.
The whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
