Srinagar, May 5: Army and Police today cordoned off Maloora village in the outskirts of Srinagar following inputs about the movement of two suspected militants in the area while as security forces arrested a militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba from Pattan area of North Kashmir.
Sources said that 2 Rashtriya Rifles of Army and Police conducted searches of several houses in Maloora area in the outskirts of Srinagar during cordon and search operation. However, no one was arrested. The cordon and search operation last for three hours and it was called off after they didn’t find any suspicious person in the area.
Meanwhile, Baramulla police arrested a LeT militant who was involved in the killing of a Sarpanch in Palhallan village in North Kashmir and recovered a pistol from his possession.
A police spokesman said that Pattan police received an information regarding the movement of a local trained militant of LeT Muzaffar Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Rahim resident of Raipora, Palhallan. “Muzaffar is involved in case FIR No. 207/2012, under Section 302 RPC, 7/25 I.A Act of police station Pattan for the killing of Sarpanch of village Palhallan. He is a close associate of Hilal Molvi of LeT militant in Kongamdara Magam area.”
“On this information Pattan police along with of 45 battalion of CRPF and 29 RR, arrested the LeT militant at a naka. One pistol, one pistol magazine and three pistol rounds were recovered from his possession”, police added.
