MENDHAR, Nov 10: A female leopard was found dead in forest area, near the Line of Control in Balakot area of Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district today.
Sources said some villagers noticed the dead body of full grown female leopard lying in the bushes in Ramlutta forest area of Balakot and informed forest and police officials at Balakot. The Wild Life officials also came to know about the matter. They reached the spot and then shifted the body of the leopard to Mendhar.
Then Wild Life authorities and Police got the postmortem on the body conducted by the Veterinary doctors at Mendhar in presence of Tehsildar and later buried its body. Wild Life Department has taken cognizance of the matter.
