KARGIL, Aug 31: With an objective to ensure smooth and hassle free movement of taxis on the Kargil-Leh road, a meeting between Leh and Kargil administration was held today at Tourist Dak Bungalow Hinaskot to develop consensus and issue necessary directions for the smooth flow of traffic.
Deputy Commissioner Leh Prasanna Swami G and Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain, SSPs of Kargil and Leh and the officers of traffic police and Regional Transport Offices besides president of the Taxi Union Kargil, also participated in the meeting.
It was decided that all the vehicles having State permit will be allowed to ply on the National Highway from Jammu upto Manal without any hindrance. It was also decided that no traffic movement will be stopped on the Kargil-Leh road by the taxi unions of the two districts, and the barricades put by them will be removed immediately.
Meanwhile, both the Deputy Commissioners issued necessary directions to the concerned officers to ensure that the documentary agreement framed on the directions of the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir in 2015 is strictly followed.
The Deputy Commissioner Kargil directed the vehicles from Kargil stationed at Hinaskot for tranship to move towards Kargil.
It was further decided that the tranship of passengers at Hinaskot be stopped forthwith and the concerned police and RTO officers of both districts were directed to take strict action against the defaulters.
