SRINAGAR, Sept 16: A delegation comprising Chering Dorjay, Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs; Dr. Sonam Dawa, CEC, LAHDC Leh; Thupstan Chhewang, Member Parliament; Nawang Rigzin Jora, MLA Leh; and Executive Councillors of LAHDC, met Governor NN Vohra, who visited Leh today.
Prasanna Ramaswamy, Deputy Commissioner Leh and CEO of the LAHDC was also present.
The delegation apprised the Governor about the to-date status of ongoing developmental schemes in Ladakh.
The Governor advised the delegation about the need for a medium to long term Tourism Master Plan for the Ladakh region. He asked Dr. Dawa to ensure against any ad-hoc location of infrastructural facilities or unauthorized continuation of holds and other tourist facilities as has happened in several parts of the Valley.
The Governor stressed the crucial importance of ensuring eco-friendly, planned and hygienic development while opening new tourist areas.
