Legal Metrology inspects floor mills in Udhampur

JAMMU, Apr 29: In order to ensure proper supply of ration to far-flung areas, Secretary, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD), Satish Nehru assessed the stock availability, grinding and transport facilities at flour mills in Udhampur town.
Secretary CAPD along with Director CAPD and Officers of Legal Metrology from Jammu and Udhampur today visited M/s Trikuta Flour Mill, M/s RC Flour Mill and M/s Shalimar Flour Mill to take first hand information on the ground regarding distribution scenario. Necessary instructions were conveyed to further stream line the ration supply so that it can reach well in time to the consumers.
The Legal Metrology team also inspected storage godowns of Food Corporation of India at Udhampur and weight of each bag marked with net 50 Kg weight was done as per the rules. On inspection it was found that bags were weighing less by 600 grams on an average. A case for short Weighment was registered as per the provision of law enforced for the purpose and notice of seizure was issued to Manager FCI.
