Srinagar, Dec 7: Legal Metrology’s field executives under supervision of Deputy Controller Kashmir booked a garment dealer for selling woolen suits without price labels. A statement of the department claimed the officials conducted a surprise inspection of wholesale ready-made dealer in downtown Srinagar.
“The dealer has offered for sale woolen ladies suits in packaged form without carrying the label of metreage, maximum retail price, name of manufacturer and address.
Inspector Legal Metrology, Shabir Ahamad Bhat booked the dealer on spot under Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.
Under the aforesaid Rules, every ready-made package of garments/cloth must carry the statutory declarations of size/metreage/MRP/Trade-Name of Manufacture/Grievance cell No. and other relevant declarations.
The dealer failed to produce the invoice of the manufacturer on spot. The dealer was given a week time to produce the invoice of the manufacturer so that the manufacturer shall be penalised under rules.
