KISHTWAR, June 15: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kishtwar organised three legal awareness camps to educate rural people about their legal rights.
The awareness camps were organized under the chairmanship of Bala Jyoti, Principal District & Session Judge Kishtwar in Dadpeth , Mugalmaidan and Dachhan area of Kishtwar.
The Legal Awareness Camp at Dadpeth Chatroo was organized to create awareness among the masses especially women folk regarding “Victim Compensation Scheme and Legal Rights of Women”.
Similarly, a micro camp was organised at Mugalmaidan Chatroo to create awareness among the rural population about the concept of “Lok Adalat and Mediation”.
More than 300 people participated in the Micro legal camp at Chatroo wherein the people of the area were apprised about the benefits of free Legal Aid schemes and Lok Adalat System.
Likewise, another legal awareness programme was held in Sirshi Dacchan. Munsiff Kishtwar Adnan Syed presided over the programme in which the local people were informed about the legal rights of transgender, victims compensation scheme and benefits of Lok Adalats.
Addressing the series of Legal Awareness camps, Principal District & Session Judge (Chairman District Legal Services Authority) Kishtwar Bala Jyoti emphasized upon the people of the area to keep themselves abreast with the current laws and their legal rights. She also said that legal awareness camps are organized to spread Legal Literacy among the people living in far flung and rural areas at par with the people living in urban areas.
“Legal awareness empowers the people to demand justice, accountability and effective remedies at all levels” she added.
During the camps a power point presentation was also given to women folk and children with respect to their legal rights and concept of Victim Compensation Scheme.
