JAMMU, Sept 25: A lecture on heritage conservation and restoration was organized under the eminent lecture series by Central University of Jammu, here today.
Nitin Sinha, a conservation architect representing ICOMOS India through the National Scientific Committee on Risk Preparedness, threw light on heritage conservation and ICOMOS, which works for the conservation and protection of the cultural heritage places. He informed that ICOMOS is the only global, non-governmental organization of its kind, which is dedicated to promote the application of theory, methodology and scientific techniques to the conservation of architectural and archaeological heritage.
Nitin Sinha is here to assess the loss to heritage in the State due to recent flood fury.
He made an assessment of heritage of Kashmir and now is accessing the damage to heritage in Jammu region.
In his presidential remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, Prof Devanand highlighted the role of heritage and cultural tourism in giving a unique space to a particular destination. Further, he highlighted the role being played by the bodies like ICOMOS in conservation and restoration of heritage monuments.
Earlier, Prof Deepak Raj Gupta, Dean, School of Business Studies welcomed the eminent speaker and highlighted the importance of such lectures.
