Leakages in pipes cause water crisis in Mendhar

POONCH, Feb 18: The failure of Public Health Engineering department in plugging leakages in the pipeline supplying water to the Mendhar town has resulted into acute drinking water crisis in entire Mendhar and its adjoining area.
Residents of Mendhar expressing resentment said that they are facing tough time due to water crisis which is mainly due to the unchecked leakage of water from damaged water pipes.
They also added that the damaged water pipes are causing water scarcity in town which has paralyzed the normal life of the common masses in the area as the drinking water is prime need of a human being. Locals of the area alleged that the leakages are going on since long but PHE department never tried to repair them despite repeated requests.
Local residents Mohd Bashir, Jaan Mohd and Kafeel Choudhary said that PHE department has failed to restore the damaged water pipelines in Mendhar and other areas due to the reasons best known to them.
“Department employees are getting good salary for service to the common man but unfortunately they have turned blind eye towards their duty,” they added.
A senior PHE officer when approached said that the department has pressed its staff and other manpower for repairing of damaged pipes and the water supply will be streamlined within a short span of time.
