16 bovine animals rescued, 4 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Feb 18: Police today foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling at Jakhani Naka and Omara Morh, under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police Station and rescued 16 number of cattle.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that a Police party, led by SHO Udhampur, Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary, under the supervision of Rohit Chadgal, Dy SP Hqrs Udhampur and Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur, laid two nakas at Jakhani Chowk, NHW and Omara Morh area of Udhampur town for checking of vehicles.
During checking of vehicles, police party intercepted three Tata Mobile vehicles, bearing registration number JK02CJ- 9608, JK02BX- 2062 and JK14C- 4401 . Total 16 number of bovine animals were found loaded in these three vehicles, which were on way to Kashmir without any valid permission. All the bovine animals were rescued and accused smugglers namely Mohd Sadiq of Ramban, Mohd Shakeel of Ramban, Rashid Mohd of Dansal and Talib Hussain of Battal Ballian, Udhampur were arrested on the spot .
In this connection, three cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation is going on.
