Leadership Summit begins at IIM Sirmaur

PAONTA SAHIB (HP), Oct 12: Two-day `Nirmaan’ Leadership Summit – 3.0 began today at IIM Sirmaur campus in the presence of galaxy of corporate guests.
Third in the series, the summit is being organised with a profuse congregation of intellectual industrial stalwarts, around the broad theme of “Building Next Gen Leadership”. During the summit, 30 corporate leaders shall share their experiences in six different panels on varied sub themes.
The event was inaugurated by Director, IIM Sirmaur Prof Neelu Rohmetra. On the occasion, the final placement brochure (Batch 2018-20) and summer placement brochure (Batch 2019-21) were also released.
Yogi Sriram, SVP – Corporate HR & Member of Executive Committee, L&T, delivered the keynote speech. He talked about the qualities that shall make for next-gen leaders. “From the necessity of developing processed thinking to having a high emotional quotient (EQ), all are identified as qualities of paramount importance for effective leadership”, he said and emphasized on developing the art and science of making sensible judgement about situations that one might experience, while executing and delivering in organisations.
Director, IIM Sirmaur, Prof Neelu Rohmetra addressed the gathering and emphasized that the journey of any professional is filled with ambitious pursuits and hard work, and one should leave no stone unturned in ensuring that best is delivered. She reiterated that those who are willing to sacrifice and place the self behind, actually make true leaders.
Prof Rohmetra expressed that we need to overcome our shortcomings and should be ready to accept mistakes. “True leaders think about others before self and move beyond comfort zones to help communities”, she added and narrated the challenges faced while taking up the responsibility of steering IIM Sirmaur towards a truly world-class management institute.
The first panel discussed and deliberated on the subtheme of “Future Skills and Capabilities”. The panelists were Adhiraj Kumar Dey (Corporate Vice President HR, Blue Omni Channel) as the moderator and Vernon Fernandes (HR Business Partner South Asia, RefiniTiv), Major Deepak Sadotra (Head HR, TerraCIS Technology Ltd), and Unmesh Pawar (Partner-CHRO, KPMG).
During the second half of the day, the second panel consisting of Dilip Raj (VP/ Sr MP – Max Life Insurance Company Limited) as the moderator and Avinash Parhi (VP of P&L and Marketing – Indifi), Praveen Wadalkar (Co-Founder and CEO – Techizer Tech Solutions Private Limited), and Satyajit Mohanty (Chief HR Officer | VP-HR – Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Limited) discussed along the sub theme “International Competitions and Innovations”.
The third panel consisted of Rashmi Mansharamani (Chief Human Resources Officer – The Wave Group) as the moderator and Alok Sharman (CEO & Director/ India, Brazil, SEA, China, Australia, S Africa – York Transport Equipment), Bikram K Nayak (Head HR – L&T-NxT), and Rajeev Singh MLE (COO & Business Head – Global Business Services – Karvy Fintech) deliberated on the subtheme “Grooming and Retaining Top Talent.”
The second keynote speech during the first day of the event was delivered by Navneet Bansal, CEO and VP, Global Business Solutions limited, JSW on “Traits of Industry 4.0”.
