LC receives 434 questions, 12 resolutions: Chairman

JAMMU, Dec 28: Chairman, J&K Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali today disclosed that Council Secretariat  has received 434 questions, about a dozen resolutions and equal number of bills so far and the session will have 21 sittings in the Upper House during coming Budget Session.
Interacting with the media-persons here this afternoon, the Legislative Council Chairman said that Budget Session is going to commence on January 2, 2017  this time and the Council Secretariat has made almost all the preparations for the smooth conduct of the session, though mainly it depends on the opposition. Ali disclosed that Session will start with Governor’s  address  at the  Central Hall of the Legislature complex on coming  Monday.
The chairman  further disclosed that  till now, the Council Secretariat has received 434 questions, 12 resolutions and about equal number of bills. The number may increase as  the members still have time.  He further disclosed that  Council Secretariat will provide all possible assistance to the media-persons   covering the proceedings and also expects similar cooperation from the media persons.
He disclosed that at present there are 34 members in the Upper House and six are going to be retired in coming April.  The ruling party have eighteen members in the Upper House while 16 are from the opposition. During this entire session, there will be single sitting this time.
The media-persons discussed the issue of  parking for their vehicles in the Secretariat  complex and sought suitable place for the same besides the matter related t to security check. They also demanded to increase coordination staff at the Media Gallery and timely supply of  matter related to proceedings in the House.  Deputy Secretary Legislative Council  and other staff besides Information department officials were also present.
