JAMMU, Dec 27: The Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC-II) of Legislative Council today visited Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) and inspected its functioning. The Committee went round all the wards and units of the College and took stock of the medicare being provided to the patients.
The Committee which was headed by its Chairman, Vijay Bakaya interacted with the management and enquired about the facilities provided to the patients, especially to BPL and other categories. The Committee stressed upon the authorities of the hospital to launch awareness camps in rural and far flung areas about the medical facilities available in their hospital so that the people of rural areas can avail benefits of the facilities.
Legislators, Ravinder Kumar Sharma and Jehangir Hussain Mir and Secretary, Health, Gazanafer Hussain also accompanied.
The hospital authorities demanded transport services for the patients from various points of Jammu city, besides providing other facilities like installation of street lights up to the hospital from main Road (Gate), exclusive tube-well for the hospital to augment drinking water facilities and improvement of road from main road to the hospital.
The Committee directed the hospital authorities to implement the MoU signed with the Government for providing free medical services to the BPL patients in letter and spirit.
President, ASCOMS, Dharamvir Batra, V. President, Dr H L Maini, Director/Principal, Dr R. P. Kudyar, Director, Dr S.S. Soodan, Additional Secretary, Legislative Council, M. M. Bhat, and other officers and official of hospital management were also present during the inspection.
