Laway meets Jaitley, seeks additional allocation of food grains to J&K

JAMMU, May 15: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) MP in the Upper House, Nazir Ahmad Laway, today met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at New Delhi and sought additional monthly allocation of food grains to the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
In his meeting with the Union Finance Minister, Laway brought to the notice of latter the acute problems of ration in the State. He informed the Minister that scaling down of ration quota to consumers in J&K has added to the miseries of families particularly aftermath floods in the Valley.
Alleging that the non-agriculture families in villages and in cities have been hit hard by non-availability of food grains in the Public Distribution System, he said that the PDS in the State is unable to cater to major portion of the needs of the people.
In response, the Minister assured Laway of every possible help to the State and assured that the matter will be redressed very soon.
