Law Minister notices disparity in construction of court complexes

SRINAGAR, Sept 7: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq today stressed on judicious and modest use of funds in the infrastructure   development in the State.
Reviewing the status of ongoing judicial infrastructure, the Minister called upon the officers and construction agencies to avoid spending money lavishly on development of infrastructure and instead prepare DPRs as per the need. He said the DPRs need to be restricted to minimum needs for officers and officials.
Abdul Haq said there should be uniform budgeting and structure planning for construction of courts and other infrastructure at different districts. The Minister said he observed that there is disparity in construction of complexes in different districts.
The Minister also sought details from the High Court regarding the requirement of infrastructure for the courts in the State so that the Government will search options for funding to overcome the space constraints in various courts.
Earlier, the Minister reviewed the status of various ongoing projects in State’s Judiciary. He was informed that the department has plan allocation of Rs 51.55 crore for the current fiscal which include Central share of Rs 36.80 crore. The meeting was informed that Rs 28.42 crore have been released till date.
The Minister was informed that Lawyers Chambers at High Court Complex Srinagar have been constructed at a cost of  Rs 9.43 crore and handed over to the High Court.
Officials of J&K Police Housing Corporation said the main building of Lawyers Chamber at District Court complex Mominabad Srinagar has been completed while some minor works are in progress and will be handed over soon.
The Minister also sought update about the construction of Advocates Chambers at Baramulla, Pattan and High Court complex, construction of ramp and car parking at High Court complex Janipur  besides land acquisition for Munsiff Court at Boniyar and Bhaderwah.
The meeting was attended by Secretary, Law, Abdul Majeed besides officials of R&B, Police Housing Corporation, Housing Board and other construction agencies.
