JAMMU, Dec 17: Bandipora police today arrested a notorious drug-peddler and recovered from his possession a large quantity of intoxicants.
During a naka laid at Aragam, a police party headed by Sub Inspector Masood-ul-Hassan (SHO Aragam) intercepted an Alto car bearing registration No. 2477 JK 15 and recovered a large consignment of intoxicants from inside the vehicle.
SSP Bandipora Shabir Ahmad said the Alto driver turned out to be a notorious drug peddler. He has been identified as Mohammad Yousuf Wani son of Ghulam Rasool Wani, a resident of Pathankot, Punjab. He was arrested on spot by the police and his Alto car was seized.
From his possession, police recovered 192 bottles of banned syrup and 171 strips (each having 24 tablets) totaling 4104.
Police have registered a FIR against the accused at Aragam police station under Section 8/21 NDPS Act.
The drug-peddler has revealed during his questioning that he was supplying intoxicants among youth of Bandipora by charging money from them.
Police was expecting some more arrests on the disclosures of the accused.
