Langer village to be developed with basic amenities: Bhalla

JAMMU, Feb 23: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla has assured the inhabitants of Langer Talab that development related issues would be redressed in a phased manner, adding that focus of the Government is to develop all the areas on modern lines by providing safe drinking water, power, better roads, bye-lanes, drains, besides educational and healthcare infrastructure.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering at Langer Talab after assessing development related issues of the villagers like development of Recreation Park, upgradation of approached road besides construction of lanes and drains in the locality, here today.
Mr. Bhalla asked the executing agency to complete all the ongoing projects in the locality within stipulated time frame for the benefit of general masses.
The Minister called upon the people not to extend their ramps on roads and desist from encroaching the nallahs, adding that such practices cause problems and hindrances in project execution . He appealed people to cooperate with the Government to ensure development.
To deal with drinking water scarcity at Langer and Ambika Colony, the Minister said Government has prepared a detailed project report of Rs. 3 crore for construction of two deep drill tube wells including laying of water supply pipes in the localities, adding that the construction work of the projects would be started after completing tendering formalities. He said with the commissioning of tube wells, the drinking water scarcity in the areas would be reduced to a large extent.
The Minister said that directions have been issued to the officers to reach out to the masses and take the required steps to solve their grievances. He added that Government has launched a number of welfare schemes to upgrade the socio-economic condition of the people.
Later, Bhalla also attended 20th National Praudh Sanskar Shivir organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad (BKP), J&K in the premises of Heritage School, Sainik Colony, Jammu. Two-day shivir commenced on February 22.
