JAMMU, Mar 17: The State Vigilance Commission has directed the Vice-Chairman Jammu Development Authority to furnish action taken report before the Commission through the Director Land Management in alleged State Land encroachment case at village Channi Kamala, tehsil Bahu, district Jammu.
The SVC, while proceeding on a complaint in connection with encroachments made over State Land, bearing Khasra No  124 measuring about 26 kanals and 3 marlas at village Channi Kamala by some land mafia with the support and succour of officials of the Revenue Department  and JDA leading to illegal possession and unauthorized constructions thereon,  had issued notice to the Vice-Chairman Jammu Development Authority and  directed for  demarcation of land through the Revenue Department in presence of JDA officials and submission of status report thereof before  the Commission.
The report furnished by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jammu,  prima-facie revealed that land bearing Khasra No. 124,  measuring about 26 kanals 3 marlas at village Channi Kamala is  State Land, out of which 25 kanals and 15 marlas is recorded in the name of Nazool and JDA  and 9 marlas in the name of Housing Department. However, on spot 24 kanals and 14 marlas has been encroached by the land grabbers and pertinently none among them possess papers regarding title of the land and only one kanal and 9 marlas land is vacant, which exhibits poor supervision/performance besides alleged connivance on the part of the officers/officials of JDA.
The SVC,   while expressing displeasure over irresponsible approach portrayed by the officers/officials of JDA, resulting in  encroachment of a huge chunk of highly priced State land, directed Vice-Chairman JDA to take immediate action to get back the land from the encroachers besides, fix responsibility of the officers/officials who have facilitated the land grabbers  and submit the action taken report to the Commission on next date of hearing through Director Land Management for further legal action against the culprit Government Officers/ Officials.
