5 NPP workers booked for attack on MLA

RAMNAGAR, Mar 17: A day after alleged attack on MLA Ramnagar, R S Pathania, Police has booked five activists of JKNPP for rioting and blocking the road in front of Police Station Ramnagar and trying to damage vehicle of the MLA, who was enroute for inauguration of Kissan Mela in the town on Tuesday.
FIR has been registered against Pawan Dev Singh (MLA candidate of JKNPP from Bani), Pushpinder Singh (District Youth president), Rakesh Singh, Chanchal Singh and Vinod Kumar.
In a counter FIR, Police has also booked driver of the MLA for rash driving even as no arrest was made from either side in view of bailable nature of the offences.
According to Police, the JKNPP activists had blocked the main road while holding protest against PDD when vehicle of MLA Ramnagar reached there resulting into the high-voltage drama and alleged attack.  The driver of MLA drove away the vehicle while smashing the blockade created by JKNPP workers.
Following complaints from both sides, Ramnagar Police has registered case FIR against JKNPP activists under Sections 341, 147, 427 of RPC and separate FIR against driver of the MLA under Section 279 RPC.
